After use, let hot casserole cool down before cleaning, never place hot casserole in cold water. Clean the casserole carefully with a soft cloth in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry completely to prevent water spots. Do not store if the cast iron casserole is still damp.
To remove stubborn stains, fill cookware with warm soapy water, let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes, then clean with a soft cloth, rinse and dry. To remove baked on food, boil water with 2 or 3 tablespoons of baking soda for a few minutes.
Dry completely before storing. In extreme cases, slight rusting may occur if the product is left wet for an extended period of time. In these rare cases, scrub with a damp cloth and baking soda to help remove rust, then rub cooking oil over the affected area to prevent further rust.
